Praise for One Turn of the Cards

Needs to be made into a movie.
-- Numerous readers communicating with the author

Best book I've read. Great piece of work.
-- Vance Forepaugh, Colonel, USA (Ret)

With his succinct, no nonsense storytelling style, Charles Rush has captured the age old pathos of a group of men who become united by their calling to war. The lines drawn between Confederate and Union, enemy and friend, stranger and relative become blurred as Terry's Rangers work through the complicated territory of what it means to be a survivor of the Civil War. Rush's work is infused with a unique intimacy because his great-grandfather served with Terry's Rangers and lived to tell the tale.

This story is compelling, the characters are engaging, and the style is entertaining. Most of all, the author has done a thorough job of research.

To anyone curious about the day to day life of western Confederate cavalrymen this book is a must read. The exploits of Terry’s Rangers were legendary even among their adversaries. Colonel Rush has taken history and made it come alive for even the most discerning reader. This would make a great movie.
-- Jim Jones, former Colonel of the Terry's Texas Ranger re-enactor group.

I read almost half your new book last night before I turned in, and wanted to drop you a note about it. We all have books of our heart, but most of us--if we're lucky--have *A* book of our hearts. I think this is yours. I hope you will continue to market it to other venues I'd love to see this ONE TURN OF THE CARDS made into a movie or mini-series. It's truly remarkable.

 Praise for The Devil's Chessboard

Read your book immediately after receiving it. WOW!!!! That was real page turner and a great thriller with a surprising ending. ... it was hard to put down. ... every chapter was a cliffhanger.
      -- Vincent Reed

I just finished The Devil's Chessboard and really enjoyed the reading. My wife is next in line to read it. Fast pace and interesting with just enough description to place me in Texas/Virginia. What is Whistler going to do next????? I'm hoping there will be many more novels to follow.
